Allowing shops to be open with 50% staff, small shopkeepers will benefit

Ahmedabad. The central government also approved the opening of non-essential items shops late Wednesday night to revive the economy, which has slowed down due to the lockdown. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order late last night and according to it, shops falling under the purview of the corporation and the corporation will now be able to open their own shop with 50% staff. Traditional groceries as well as other shops in the residential complex and in the market area will be allowed to operate conditionally as per the order. Experts say that small shopkeepers will benefit the most from this.

Shops cannot be opened in hotspot areas
The government said no shops or businesses would be set up in areas where hotspots have been declared and contained. In the current situation, shops will be closed in all such places.

Safety and social distance must be maintained
According to the order, those who open their shops will have to make all arrangements for their staff, including masks and gloves. In addition, social distance must be strictly adhered to.

The mall shops will not be open yet
As per the Central Government's order, the rule will not apply to shops in market complexes, malls, single brand and multi-brand malls within the limits of the corporation, i.e. they are not allowed to open.
