ST. STEPHENS COLLEGE TO OFFER A COURSE ON PUBLIC POLICY |
An official statement said that whenever the SCAL PPIR course is held in the college over a period of six weeks. It is designed to allow young graduates to gain a better understanding of the field, as opposed to "how it is designed, framed, and implemented."
The first group of students for this is very diverse and is made up of professionals from the initial level to the higher levels in the fields of banking, development, consulting, NGOs, politics and health. The course addresses a variety of topics including the formation, development and implementation of policies, economic policies, international relations, international security and diplomacy, and more.
The official statement also suggested that SCAL would involve its former intellectual students with vast experience and knowledge in that field through government sector, departments and corporate boardrooms. It includes current and former ambassadors, bureaucrats and leaders from various fields.
Shashi Tharoor, Congress (Parliament) minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar, diplomat and MP, and Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, are some of the resource people listed for this course. An inaugural program was organized at the college on Saturday, during which Tharoor gave an inaugural conference.
According to the official statement, other specific discipline courses are also planned and will be announced soon on the university website.
